Bathroom humor does not generally make our list, but these are pretty witty ditties about all sorts of bathroom-centric issues. We think both kids and parents will see the humor and wisdom in them and enjoy the busy illustrations. This is funny without going down to the sewer for a joke. "I'm glad I'm not a crocodile, 'cause brushing my teeth would take a while--"  Unlike the usual gross-out humor directed to kids of this age and despite the unfortunate and crude sounding title, this has more of an Ogden Nash ring to it. Fun! 5-8

Scranimals
(by Jack Prelutsky/illus. by Peter Sis, Greenwillow $16.95 Score:) More pleasing than a tossed salad or a zoo that's full, a hybrid collection of scrambled animal/plants. Zany, zippy rhymes about such never-before seen creatures as the beautiful rhinocerose, poor avacadodos or the detested radishark! Sis's illustrations lend just the right dollop of humor to Prelutsky's silly rhymes. 4-9.
