Yet, we think it worth noting, since it can be a conversation opener for families dealing with similar situations. Sometimes a book can open the floodgates or at least help children know that they are not unique and that others have lived through such events.

) Anyone who has had to say good-bye to a loved on because they are moving far away or facing a bigger separation will be moved to tears of empathy in this sentimental, but beautiful book. Lydia’s family is going West to Oregon and the thought of leaving Grandma is hard to accept. It’s a wise and endearing Grandmother who finds way to prepare little Lydia with ways they can stay connected. Bring tissues. 3-6.
