2012 Award
Tiny Love Soothe n Groove Mobile
(Tiny Love $54 Score:)

A fairly gender free mobile that will fit in the nursery of boys or girls. The three fabric animals do look down on baby as they move about. They have dangly legs and big eyes. The mobile plays 18 tunes and will run for as long as 40 minutes. Of course, the mobile animals and armature need to be removed by five months but the music box, with electronic sounds, can remain on the crib side for baby to activate. It can also be removed and carried about as baby grows into toddlerhood.  So, this is a piece of equipment with a long life. Newborn-24 months.

2011 Award
Tiny Love Animal Friends Take-Along Mobile
(Tiny Love $24.99 Score:)

Smaller than the usual crib size musical mobile, this is designed as a take-along extra for changing board or trips away from home. It has three small dangly toy animals that can be seen as your horizontal baby looks up at them. All too often mobiles are made with dangly toys that baby cannot really see when they hang sideways. Such mobiles are room decorations, but not designed for baby. Despite the photo shown here, this mobile's dangly toys are actually well positioned so baby looks at the faces. They move slowly and the little musical interludes by Beethoven and Mozart are quiet and soothing. Our recent tester mom was happy to have this take along version, since the full sized mobile is way too heavy for her pack ad go crib. There is a Tiny Love Tiny Princess Take-Along Mobile, a pink version of this toy for those who prefer gender specific toys. SAFETY NOTE: Mobiles should be removed when baby can reach out and touch. The manufacturers say infants to 5 months, but if your baby is able to touch it--it's time to move it or remove it.   Also, note, the manufacturer warns that this is not to be used in a moving vehicle.

2009 Award
Tiny Love Tiny Princess Mobile
(Tiny Love $49.95 Score:)

We usually steer clear of gender specific baby toys. Infants tend to see high contrast black and white and then primary colors first. But, sometimes, a mobile is chosen to go with the room décor. So….if you must have pink, here is a new one with the same kind of action as other Tiny Love mobiles and that is a real plus. As the critters turn they are engineered to spin in sight they are angled with their faces looking down, so baby is looking at faces instead of edges of the dangly toys. This one has a big pink flowers, a bright colored princess butterfly, turtle and frog prince. The music box can be turned on and off with a remote controller and plays Chopin, Mozart, Bach, and Debussy with birds on the nature button. Although the mobile must come down for safety reasons at 5 months, the music box can continue to function on the crib rail. Newborn. The company has signed a verification form complying with our safety requirements. We did not independently test this toy in a lab.

2003 Awards
Wimmer-Ferguson Infant Stim-Mobile
(Manhattan Toy $27.99 Score:)

Newborns will be fascinated with the black-and-white, high-contrast patterns of the ten vinyl 3" discs and squares that dance and dangle on this nonmusical mobile for the crib or changing table.  Not as cute looking as other mobiles, but babies do react to the visual stimulation of this crib toy.
