Manhattan Toy Lovies Payton Puppy
(Manhattan Toy $12 Score:)

You can find this adorable black and white pooch in three sizes, each with a slightly crooked face and angular ears that stand up and make him all the more appealing. He's done in silky plush, has pellets inside so he can sit on his lightly weighted bottom. We have the 5.5 handful and the one marked large. Either will be a perfect huggable to take wherever your toddler is off to. This is one of those classics that both boys and girls like to take wherever they go. They have no agenda or tricks Like a good old teddy bear ot floppy bunny, Payton Puppy will listen to whatever a child has to say and do whatever he’s told. He’ll be completely loving with no questions as to who is the boss.

2015 Awards
North American Bear Little Princess, 14-inch Doll
(North American Bear Co. $25 Score:)

A charming Little Princess Ballerina with a hot pink torso and lighter pink satin tutu. Her clothes do not come off, so she is right for toddlers who will appreciate the feel of the fabric and the bows on her pink slippers. Her brownish velour hair is not comb-able but is sewn in place in the shape of an up-sweep. With her long legs and arms, stitched-on features and lack of complications, she makes an easy to take along huggable for all ages.

Age: Toddlers, Preschool. Award Year: 2015.

2015 Awards
Playskool Play All Day Elmo
(Hasbro $59.99 Score:)

This season's interactive Elmo is larger and softer than usual, which makes him cuddlier than Elmos of the past. There are two modes of play: a setting for toddlers with simplest games and another for preschoolers, a nice feature, although his speech tends to be less clear than previous Elmo dolls. There are no accessories to put on and take off. All the action is built into the doll. To activate, just squeeze Elmo's big soft orange nose and he plays eight games. Of course, Elmo is "the boss" of all, telling kids let's play pat-a-cake, hop and count, freeze dance, guess colors, red light/green light, and animal sounds.  Elmo also takes naps and sings a lullaby before he goes quiet until someone is ready to wake him up and play some more. Marked for 18 months to 4 years. The swet spot ages are probably just between those-- as in 2's to late 3's.

2015 Award
Kaloo Petite Rose Maxi Doll
(Janod $60 Score:)

A very huggable 21 inch big bunny. In spite of her name, Rose is not so petite! She comes dressed in a stitched on pink print dress with removable navy blue bloomers. With her long legs arms and floopy ears she is one big huggable, but lightweight enough to give toddlers the armful they love without too much heft. She's pricey, but beautifully soft and finished in velvety velour like plush and comes with her own toteable canvas bag for trips away from home.

Age: Toddlers. Award Year: 2015. Click here to purchase the product on Amazon.com.

2014 Awards
Cloud b Twilight Buddies, Sheep
(Cloud b $34.95 Score:)

This soft sheep projects a starry night sky of soft lights on the ceiling of the nursery for little ones to gaze at as they go to sleep. A built-in timer turns the light show off after 45 minutes. This projects three-color options: green, blue, and amber. Just as you would not put a pillow in a crib, this is not meant to be in a crib, but rather in the room. Soft to the touch, this is also a cuddly but quiet good choice for toddlers and preschoolers who find comfort in having a nightlight rather than a totally darkened bedroom.

Age: Infants, Toddlers, Preschool. Award Year: 2014. Click here to purchase the product on Amazon.com.

2014 Award
Corolle Mon Premier Sky Stroller
(Corolle $34.99 Score:)

We're always happy to report when there's a blue stroller on the market. This is a very light weight white and blue plastic stroller that is designed for Corolle's new Babipouce Blue Star Doll (also dressed in a blue romper). This is not the sturdiest of strollers but it gets high marks for color choice.

2014 Award
Corolle Bebe Bath Doll
(Corolle $52.50 Score:)

This 12" Corolle doll is really ready for bath time! Comes in a pink suit with a mask/snorkel, water wings and flippers. Designed for toddlers 18 months and up, this may do the trick to get reluctant bathers into the water. The polystyrene beads help the doll dry quickly.

2014 Awards
Corolle Babipouce Blue Stars Doll
(Corolle $40 Score:)

Corolle's line of Babipouce fills the bill as a great place to start in doll land. With all a soft fabric, huggable body and soft vinyl face (with painted featured), this is a safe choice for older babies and toddlers. The blue romper and coordinating velour hat (with knotted top) will be pleasing to the touch. Very sweet. If you're looking for a "pink" version, look at last year's Platinum Award winner, Babipouce Pink Cotton Flower Doll.

2014 Award
Manhattan Toy Snuggle Pods
(Manhattan Toy $18 and $25 Score:)

A sweet plush 8-inch doll that fits into its own plush pod like bed. This one is called Snuggle Bug, though it doesn’t really look like a bug. The satin lined pod has ribbons, embroidered spots and felt-like feelers; all interesting to the touch. The doll has all stitched features and a soft easy to grasp body. Designed as a first doll for little ones, this is more about the textures, and fun of pulling the doll out of the pod. Being able to put it back in will take longer, as will pretend play. Marked 6 months and up.

Age: Infants, Toddlers. Award Year: 2014.
