) Scrapbook fans are going to love this commodious box with picture-frame cover, which holds a spiral-bound scrapbook plus 16 sheets of patterned paper, stickers, stencil, scalloped scissors, paper punch, stamper, pens, glue stick and great ideas. This will appeal to older girls ready to memorialize a school year, a trip or a big event. Marked 7 & up, but was coved by our 10 and 11 year old testers. The Groovy Girls Perfectly Picturific Scrapbook Kit will appeal to younger girls who play with Groovy Girl dolls. The hardcover scrapbooks made these two Creativity for Kids kits preferable to the Alex My Scrapbook, that comes with a soft-covered spiral. For less experienced and younger scrapbookers, see the review of the new for 2007, My Scrapbook Case (Alex).Age: Early School Years,Later School Years. Award Year: 2005.

) A chubby white ceramic pig ready to paint and hold spare change or allowance. It has an easy-to-pull-out rubber stopper, so they don’t need to break the bank when they want to spend some of their savings! Includes a “chores” booklet with star stickers… the idea being that they earn their allowance. We have mixed feelings about paying kids for chores… but we do like the idea of encouraging them to save their pennies, nickels, and dimes! Also new from the ceramic line, Le Most Petite Purses ($15.99 ) comes with three different small ceramic purses, paint, and rhinestones. Our testers thought these would make great gifts for mom or a decoration for their own vanity. 7 & up. Age: Early School Years,Later School Years. Award Year: 2005.
Age: Early School Years,Later School Years. Award Year: 2007.

) Three charming ceramic boxes, shaped like an over-stuffed chair, a tiny birdhouse, and a stack of luggage. These come glazed in white with metal rims, hinges and clasps. Kids can paint and either bake them or simply leave them for a week to lock the colors. Since these have more details to paint than most, they are a better choice for older painters with the dexterity for fine details. Also new for 2003, Hand Painted Shakers ($12 1Ú2) Two hefty white ceramic shakers for salt or pepper. Still top rated, Paint Your Own Ceramic Tea Set ($15 ) or a Dog Dish ($18 ). Adult supervision required for baking. 7 & up. Age: Later School Years. Award Year: 2003.

) A '50s-styled 36" folding canvas sling chair that kids paint with their own design. However, the company's Bubble Chair ($16 ) received poor marks from our testers for being too small and hard to paint. Age: Early School Years,Later School Years. Award Year: 2003.

) Both boys and girls will like painting the tiles and using them to decorate the surface of a handsome wooden tray that is 7.5" by 11.5 " Smoothly finished in natural wood, with cut out handles, no two trays will be the same. Allows kids to select the designs and set the pieces in their own way. Comes with ceramic tiles in a variety of sizes, ceramic paints, brush and glue grout. Makes a nice gift to give to familiy or teacher. Or, give a tile to each member of the family to decorate and then combine for a gift that will become a family heirloom. This came too late for the 2003 book or it would have been included.
8 & up. Age: Early School Years,Later School Years. Award Year: 2003.
) Have your own sidewalk art show with this four-color paint kit. "Colors not as vibrant as on the box, but the kids had a great time. I had to fight with the kids to get them to stop and get ready for bed!" 5 & up. Also fun, Crayola Window FX ($3.99 1?2) Remember using glass wax with stencils for holiday decorations? Here's a much more colorful and easy-to-use update that comes right off with water. 4 & up. Age: Early School Years,Later School Years. Award Year: 2004.

) Scrapbooking is one of the hottest craft trends for adults. This kit will appeal to older girls ready to memorialize a school year, a trip, or a big event. Comes with a hot pink book, stickers, decorative papers, stencils, scissors, pen, and small memory key chain. Age: Later School Years. Award Year: 2004.

) We weren't prepared for the amount of excitement when we took this craft kit out of the box. Our testers, admittedly all big horse fans, were eager to have their own stable and corral to decorate. The kit comes with a wooden double door barn with a three part sectioned corral, a 4" wooden horse, paint, brush, and painting guide. You can buy additional wooden horses from Balitono or you can use Beyer's 4" horses with the set as well. Age: Early School Years,Later School Years. Award Year: 2004.

) Our testers gave this 8" wooden jewelry box high marks for the way it was finished inside with velvet finished fittings and little hooks for hanging necklaces. This is a more grown-up jewelry box than most we've tested. While marked 6 & up, it was appealing to our 11-year-old testers. For our horse fans, My Horse Stable & Corral Kit ($25) got rave reviews. Comes with a wooden stable (8" x 6" x 7") with two stalls, one wooden horse, and an 18"-long wooden corral, and paint. Age: Early School Years,Later School Years. Award Year: 2005.
