Eye Can Art: Printmaking Kit
(Eye Can Art $28 Score:)

An interesting introduction to printmaking that comes complete with brayer, printing ink, tagboard, glue, papers and instructions. This is a kit for parent child projects. The supplies are fine and the directions are clear. A good choice for outdoors where the newspapers under the art work can be tossed. 8 & up. The company has signed a verification form complying with our safety requirements. We did not independently test this toy in a lab.

2003 Award
Le Most Cute Objects & Hand Painted Shakers
(Creativity for Kids $14 Score:) Three charming ceramic boxes, shaped like an over-stuffed chair, a tiny birdhouse, and a stack of luggage. These come glazed in white with metal rims, hinges and clasps. Kids can paint and either bake them or simply leave them for a week to lock the colors. Since these have more details to paint than most, they are a better choice for older painters with the dexterity for fine details. Also new for 2003, Hand Painted Shakers ($12 12) Two hefty white ceramic shakers for salt or pepper. Still top rated, Paint Your Own Ceramic Tea Set ($15 ) or a Dog Dish ($18 ). Adult supervision required for baking. 7 & up.

The Icee Maker
(Spinmaster $24.99 Score:) Our testers were excited with the idea of being able to make their ow slush drinks. In fact they thought it would be grat fun for a party. But, alas, this got a lukewarm response (sorry)- after a whole lot of turning and wishing it made a disappointing drink that wasn't "slushy enough."
