) Spot the pup is missing! Where can he be? Lift the flaps and see! This is the original title in the granddaddy series of lift the flap books. There are dozens of variations with Spot searching for friends, hats, books, you-name-it. They work best when the objects are familiar and easy for young children to identify. Not much story in these little books, but the suspense is toddler-sized. These are well done small mysteries with just the right size and suspense for young page turners. Be prepared: Little hands may not be able to lift without a rip. The boardbook versions may be a sturdier choice, but some are hard for little fingers, too. Read befroe you buy. This is a well loved but uneven series-some are much better than others.
Age: Toddlers, Preschool. Award Year: 1994.
