ESPN Game Station
(Fisher-Price $179 Score:) We worry when a toy comes with a warning not to return the toy to the store, but to call the help line. The thick instruction book and three hours of assembly are ridiculous for a $179 toy. Proceed at your own risk with this 6-in-1 play center for soccer, basketball, golf, hockey, football, and baseball games. 5 & up.

Age: Early School Years. Award Year: .

2005 Award
Jelly Flyer Night Flyer
(Noodle Head $10 Score:) Bringing along an active toy is important for those long road trips when kids need to get out of the car and stretch their legs. The Jelly Flyer is made of a soft material so it won't hurt like a traditional Frisbee. We liked the Night Flyer, which glows in the dark.

2005 Award
Trikke 5
(Trikke Tech $139 Score:) Our testers wrote: "A HUGE HIT! The kids love this! It works well, and looks super cool, too. It operates much like the flying turtle." Designed for kids 7–11 with a maximum rider weight of 150 lbs., the three-wheeled scooter will go where the rider leans. The company sells bigger models for teens and grown-ups but we did not test them. 8 & up.

2005 Award
Swirlin' Saucer
(Fisher-Price $12.95 Score:) Our seven month old tester loved picking up the over-sized plastic balls and dropping them in the saucer. You can turn on the toy base so that the saucer shakes and makes noise as the balls drop. When you first introduce the toy we recommend starting with the sound and motion off. A pleasingly easy to activate first floor toy.
