2014 Award
Ragtales Parker Bear
(Ragtails $19.95 Score:)

Parker bear is just the right size to fit in the hand of toddlers, who like their huggables either oversized or small enough to carry in one hand. Parker is the latter. He is a charmer with a knit hat and kind face who will no doubt listen well and play whatever games your tot has in mind. Easy to take along as a comfort toy.

Age: Infants, Toddlers, Preschool. Award Year: 2014.

Shake n Beats Tambourine
(Fisher-Price $8 Score:)

A fun combo rattle and mirror that involves all the senses. Marked for 3 months and up, this will be all right for early lap games or for gazing during tummy time. We think it will be even more fun for sitting up babies who can shake the rattle and discover their faces in the baby-proof mirror. Sitting up babies will be interested in turning the color rings and tapping the tambourine to make sounds. Look for the newest version of this toy. It was recently updated from an earlier version that did not have a mirror; this is a real improvement.  A sturdy toy, but on the heavy side, especially for young babies.

Age: Infants. Award Year: 2014.

Shaky Tadbit
(Bunnies By the Bay $17 Score:)

Pull the bunny's feet and it shakes and vibrates. Hang this on an infant seat or stroller for a quick diversion or use for lap games when baby can feel the tickle of Bud's vibrating body. Baby will not be able to activate this for some time without help. It's pale face and features may be hard for newborns to focus on; but will be interesting to a baby who is beginning to take hold of things.

2014 Awards
Big Friend Hops
(Bunnies By the Bay $32 Score:)

A deliciously sweet white 16" bunny with floppy ears and pink nose and a blush of pink on the cheeks. So soft and huggable you will want to snuggle with it, too. This is light-weight but big enough to fill the arms of toddlers, who like their dolls really big or (at the other end of the spectrum) small enough to fit in a fist. Bunnies are usually seasonal toys, but this is one love of a bunny for the year round!

Age: Infants, Toddlers, Preschool, Early School Years. Award Year: 2014. Click here to purchase the product on Amazon.com.

Squeakaboos!
(Babalu Inc. $9.99 Score:)

These adorable rattles are perfect for grabbing baby's attention for tracking games and peek-a-boo fun. They are covered in a soft velour type fabric with stitched features. They rattle, when you shake them; squeak when you squeeze the handle, and have crinkle in their ears. The handles are covered in two textures that will eventually be interesting to babies when they are ready to take hold of things. We like that this is a soft rattle that beginners can grasp and not bop themselves with, while their little hands and arm movements are still unsteady. Choose from a wonderful assortment of high contrast zebras, giraffes and brightly colored elephants, lions and other cute animals. Newborn & up.

2014 Award
Fisher Price Roller Blocks Play Wall
(Fisher-Price $34.99 Score:)

A play wall intended for the vertical baby/young toddler crowd. The two-sided plastic wall comes with four blocks to use on either side of the toy. One side has three ramps and the other side has knobs - each offer a different experience for dropping the blocks. Normally this type of toy would come with balls rather than squares and would have worked better.  Of added interest, each of the cubes come with balls encased that will spin.

Age: Infants, Toddlers. Award Year: 2014.
