) This continues to be a BLUE CHIP collection of soft 13" multi-ethnic dolls with stitched features, yarn hair, and groovy clothes. Happily, there is a boy doll in this line. Still the superlative gift, consider Supersize Yvette or Gwen ($50 each 5), a 40" child-sized fabric doll that’s like a pretend play pal. We found the new Groovy Girls’ PetRageous ($16.99) disappointing. If you didn’t see the hangtags you wouldn’t know they were from the same folks—they lack the wonderful design quality and spirit of the dolls. 3 & up.
Age: Preschool, Early School Years. Award Year: 2007. Click here to purchase the product on Amazon.com.
) A funny caper about a dog that starts talking after eating alphabet soup. In fact, Martha talks so much she gets scolded and clams up until one night her gift of gab saves more than the day. 4-8
Age: Preschool,Early School Years. Award Year: 1994.
) Spunky Ramona almost becomes a kindergarten dropout when the teacher fails to appreciate her original approach to writing. This and the other endearing books in the Blue Chip Ramona series are ideal read-alouds for 6-7s that kids enjoy rereading on their own as their skills grow.
Age: Early School Years. Award Year: 1994.
) Is there anyone who hasn't had one of those terrible, horrible, no good days when nothing goes right? A perfect blend of comic relief and self-recognition serves as a comfort to young listeners. 5 and up. Age: Early School Years. Award Year: 1994.

) Here's a new twist on play tents. Choose School Bus, Ice Cream Truck, Space Shuttle, or Fire Engine (app. 28" L x 55"W x 36"H). Kids love enclosed spaces where they feel big and imagination takes off. A bit more literal than a tent made of a blanket, but either makes a great rainy day prop for pretending. We wish the ice cream truck were a little less pink and lavender. 3 and up. Age: Preschool. Award Year: 2000.
) A timeless tale of a mischievous bunny who goes where he is not supposed to and suffers the consequences of his actions. Don't miss some of the other gems in the Potter collection such as Jemima Puddleduck and the Tale of Benjamin Bunny. Age: Preschool. Award Year: 1994.
) A little bunny declares his independence and his mother assures him that wherever he goes she'll be there for him. For little ones this is a comforting tale with the added joy of playful illustrations. Finding mother rabbit in her many guises is part of the fun. Age: Toddlers,Preschool. Award Year: 1994.
) Nine hundred word "pictionary" with words and pictures in alphabetical order. Thematic lists are fun for pre-"reading" and early writing. 4–7.

) Reusable stickers make this fun to play with as well as read. Kids see the word in Spanish and English and match the sticker to the word. Also available in French. 4–7.
Age: Preschool,Early School Years. Award Year: 2000.
) Easy-to-read definitions with pictures and the words are used in sentences. 6–9.
