How the Grinch Stole Christmas
( Sony $9.95 Score: ) Who better than Walter Mathau to narrate the tale of the grumpy, cold-hearted curmudgeon whose ways are changed by the spirit of giving and loving in the Christmas season? 4-8. The Grinch (Universal ***), the Jim Carey version, is way too scary for very young children. The explosions and destruction of Whoville, for example, were way over the top for preschoolers. School-aged kids will enjoy the elaborate set and Carey's extremely dark and Grinchy portrayal.
