On the border of Somalia and Kenya there is an orphanage where a young boy daydreams of his past, his love of his family, their nomadic ways.  He dreams of how much he misses them and the camels that carried them and their possessions. When a librarian arrives at the orphanage with books on the backs of three camels, Muktar cares for one of the camels that is injured and begins a new life that is closer to his dreams. This is an unusual story that introduces children to a world they can hardly imagine and a way of life that is so different from their own. Yet there are universals here that carry our commonality as well as our differences. A good way to help children wade into the bigger world and its ways.
