2009 Award
Treasury of 25 Storybook Classics, Dinosaurs, Trucks, Monsters…and more!
( Scholastic $29.95 Score: )

A collection of 4 DVDs, each with at least six picture books that are well worth sharing. Some have full animation, others are less so, but all use the original picture book art by some of the best-loved illustrators in the children's book world. This collection includes the How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?, How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food?, Pete's a Pizza, The Five Chinese Brothers, and so many other well-loved stories plus a bonus of two stories repeated in Spanish. These picture books are narrated by well-known performers as Chevy Chase, Anthony Edwards, and others. We've given awards to many of the DVDs in this Treasury. Now they are gathered together and you can use this library as a resource and an excellent alternative to TV.  You may want to check other Storybook Treasure collections that you own, since there is some overlap of titles. For readers there is a read-along feature that can help children develop eye sweep, reading with expression, as well as vocabulary. The collection is marked 3-9, but we think this particular collection is a better choice for somewhat older children, say 5 & up.
