Play-Doh Cookie Monster's Letter Lunch
( Hasbro $19.99 Score: )

Cookie Monster is all set to gobble up lunch, but first your preschooler has to make it with Play Doh. There are four small containers plus a pot full of alphabet molds as well as molds for making fruits and veggies! Yes! Cookie is eating healthy food these days. Drop the food into his mouth and it can be recycled by reaching into the opening on the backside. No, he does not poop. The play-doh pieces are just there, although we do think some kids will see the alimentary connection. Cookie also has a fork and spoon for stirring and eating. Happily there are no batteries or sound effects--they leave that to the kids. Also, food connections are built into the Play-Doh Twirl 'n Top Pizza Shop (3 balls). One five-year-old tester had trouble making the twirler move and his mom doubted any 3-year-old could work it. It comes with an oven, play-doh extruder that grates pretend cheese, and molds for making pizza toppings. We decided to pass on this one. Frankly, we'd rather get some real dough and have kids help with making the real thing that they can eat for lunch.
