Told by Little Red herself, this amusing version of gives the classic tale an upbeat sense of humor. The art as well as breezy text is fresh and lively! With lift-up flaps and pop-up images, this is great good fun for kids who are beginning to read on their own. It combines drawings with photos of old illustrations, a cake recipe, a map to Granny’s house and her hero, the Woodman. The handwritten text sometimes mixes lower and upper case letters and the beginnings of cursive letters as well as print. This may be a little challenging, but entertaining enough to satisfy reluctant readers. Since kids know the basic story they will like this new take on the familiar.
