Important Advisory:
We are now requiring companies to provide us with documentation that their products have been tested by an independent lab for phthalates and lead.
Please click here for submission requirements for new products. However, as we are not a lab, we will not be independently verifying those
results. Also, with the exception of the 2008 Platinum Toy Awards, toys
submitted for review prior to January 2008 were not tested for lead.

Mindstorm NXT
|
(
Lego Systems, Inc.
$$249.99$
)
This is “so amazing”—the resounding comment we got back from a 13-year old builder and his dad. “You have to build everything and there are lots of pieces, but there’s a demo which gets you started.” Once it’s together, you can program it using either a PC or a Mac. “Even cooler, you can use the Bluetooth on your phone!” This next-generation robot uses a new NXT Intelligent Brick (“the brain”) and features a powerful 32-bit microprocessor, plus support for USB 2.0. If your tween thinks he’s outgrown Legos, bring this home! (800) 233-8756.

Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel
|
(
Microsoft
$$149.99$
)
Our testers were really thrilled with the force feedback and rumble motor sensation while using this racing wheel. Parent testers also gave high marks to the "wireless" aspect --"less wires for us to trip on!" (There are wires from the steering wheel to the footpedal, but none to the platform). Comes with Project Gotham Racing 3 and a table mount so that you can secure the wheel to your desk. What we really liked about the xbox experience is that kids can interact with friends and family members by racing them via the internet. Age:
Late School Years,
Tweens,
Teens,
Adults.
