Here’s a kit for trying out acrylic paints and doing so with freehand, stencils, and texture-making rakes. It comes with three painting boards, 3D gel, acrylic paints in six colors, a palette knife, paint brush, four stencils , mixing containers, and instructions for brewing up the paints. We think trying out new mediums with small kits provide perfect ways to liberate kids from the often “same old, same old” kits. Although they can do representational images, this textured paint gives them freedom to explore abstract designs and colors for their own sake. Encourage them not to use the images on back of the box as a model, but talk about the textures and patterns that were used. 7 and up.
