Hasbro Play-Doh Gravel Yard

(Hasbro $14.99)

Let’s start by saying a set of Play-Doh cans without any pre-made setting can be great fun and excellent for developing little hand muscles, creative thinking and the fun of just messing around with Doh that can become whatever they say it is. That said, the more elaborate kits are interesting on another level. This season they’ve come up with a series of “Wheels” that are packaged with a supply of Play-Doh. We think kids will enjoy the Gravel Yard that comes with four kinds of Play-Doh, including one that looks like asphalt. You put it through the mixer and it breaks the doh into chunks that drop it into the dump truck. Next the dump truck tips and unloads so the steamroller can flatten it into a roadway. So many steps are built into this pretend construction kit. Also fun, a new Firetruck with five pots of doh that can be extruded to make spaghetti like streams of water.

SNAP: A fun way to engage kids as they develop fine motor skills, using the roller to make roadways.

Ages: Preschoolers
