Kid O Myland Race Car

(Playmonster $36.99)

A sleek blue and white vehicle with grey rubber wheels is about to take off. But wait, something is holding it up. Without passengers it will go nowhere. Check out the little passengers and the spaces they are to sit in. Put the one with yellow legs into the space with a green dot. What happens? Nothing. Try it in the yellow matching space. Wow! The lights on the car turn on. Now put the green-legged passenger in the space with the green dot and the sound of a revved up motor comes on. Take out the sound driver and try backing up. The vehicle’s red back up lights will come on. Push the car backwards and see the red tail lights start flashing. So, this is a beautifully executed toy, with what the company calls STEM learning built in. It certainly is a toy that invites kids to experiment with ways to make things happen and make connections ( and circuits) and learn about cause and effect. The toy is marked for 2 and up. Note: The two play figures will not go all the way into a choke tube, so they pass current safety tests, however, we think these figures are small enough for concern for kids who still mouth their toys. It takes 3 AAA batteries.
