Blue Orange Dr. Microbe Game

(Blue Orange $19.99)

This sounds like a science game, but really, it’s more like a game of logic and memory. The “science” has to do with the props, the petri dishes, tweezers and microbes and superbugs of different colors and shapes that players race to arrange. You play each round with everyone looking at one of the challenge cards and each player racing to fill the small and large partitions of the his or her petri dish, remembering the following rules: the superbug, which goes in the large partition, is always a different shape and color than the other microbes and the three microbes must all be a different shape from each other but two microbes must be of the same color. There is a variation that can be played with the bumpy looking purple virus playing piece, but take the time to master the basic game first. Fun for older early school age and beyond. 2-4 players. 8 & up.

Ages: early school, tweens
