Another kid-friendly variation of the ever-popular Elmo. This year’s animated red plush Elmo with his big eyes and very big mouth sings a catchy ditty, “Elmo Slides, Elmo Slides!” His mouth keeps opening and closing as he sings while flapping his arms, encouraging toddlers to dance, flap their arms, and sing along with him. He’s one of those not-for-cuddling plush dolls, a novelty toy that will be a wow for less time than a plush comfort toy that listens to your child and says whatever the child imagines it says. All that said, Elmo does invite kids to get up and move and does so in English and Spanish. Elmo’s sliding and talking does requires 4 AA batteries, but happily, he comes loaded with try-me batteries for instant fun. 2 and up.
