(LEGO DUPLO $69.99) Our Star Wars fans couldn't wait for this new set that comes with what LEGO calls a SMART Brick that you charge with the included yellow charger. With 473 pieces this is a straightforward build for the 8 & up crowd. The SMART Brick adds engine sounds and lights. Our testers also loved that the set includes a Darth Vader and a Rebel Fleet Trooper.
Editors note: We recommend starting with smaller sets and build your child's sense of confidence. Resist the "buy the biggest" set -- that can often feel overwhelming to new builders.
