No right or wrong, except for the ones kids dream up in making their deigns. There are suggested images in the box, but they need not rule the process. The two sided pieces fit into the sturdy frame as the patchwork design is built. Marked 5+ and we'd say this one will be enjoyed by 5-8s and even older kids like this reviewer.
