Janod Bathroom Chunky Puzzle
Designed for older toddlers and young preschoolers, this bathroom scene has five wooden frogs that are raised enough for easy gripping. There’s a little froggy in a tub, a mid-sized one showering, another mid-sized froggy brushing teeth, a Papa Frog, a bigger one, shaving and Mama Frog bringing a rubber ducky to the little one. The nice thing about this and other puzzles in this collection, is that the whole piece puzzles, frogs in this case, can all stand up and be used as play figures with blocks. Just learning how to turn the whole pieces and fit them into the puzzle board is a challenge for beginners. They need to learn this before they are ready to put parts of whole images together. In the Janod Chunky Puzzle collection there is also a living room scene with a cat family, a backyard scene with bunny rabbits and a charming kitchen scene with bears. Marked 18 months and up, we think more realistically this will suit 2’s and up.
SNAP: These whole piece puzzles are a good place to start with puzzles and these can have other kinds of play value. Using the charming images and play figures, there's a lot to talk about in these scenes from home. Along with puzzle skills, use these for story telling and building vocabulary. Compare relative sizes of frogs by putting them in size order. Take three out of the puzzle board and play a memory game: Put three froggies in a row. Have child turn around...no peeking. Take one away. "Who's missing?" Can child remember which froggy is gone?
