Alex Happy Little Loom

(ALEX $19.99)

By all means, watch the online videos as you set up and work with this little loom. Although the directions are relatively clear and the process is not that hard, the videos at happylittleloom.com are excellent. As looms go this is a small hand held kind. An adult will probably need to get the loom set up as threading all the needles at the start may be challenging for beginners. Kids will likely need help again when they shift the need to slide the weft threads over the warp threads. It’s a time-consuming craft that can borrow some of their attention away from screen time. Who knows? It may lead to a larger fascination with weaving and a new hobby. It’s a skill that builds concentration and fine motor skills and creative possibilities. Marked 8 and up and we’d say 10 might be an even more realistic sweet spot.
