Kids in the early grades are often intrigued with maps. It's another symbolic system they are eager to figure out. This big floor map of the United States is complete with state names and capitals. The puzzle pieces are the states cut out in their distinctive shapes, which by the way gives children some idea of the comparative sizes of the states. Although this is marked for 5 and up, we think this is more like a good choice for 7s and up, up, up.
